The listener hears thru both the microphone and the telecoil in the hearing aid or cochlear implant.
Activating the telecoil connection adds clarity. The sound from the speakers is still there, as is the echo from the walls and floor. The mix between the microphone and the telecoil can be set by the audiologist, or adjusted by the listener if a smartphone app is available.
